The Joan Anderson and Dorothy Sanders

Playwriting Team

With a Master's degree from Harvard and a Ph.D. from Texas Woman's University, Dorothy spent many years in the education field, both in the classroom and as a consultant. In 1983, she moved to the Fort Worth area where she became an award-winning actress. It was on the stage of Fort Worth Community Theatre where she was cast with Joan Anderson that the two met and became friends and writing partners. In 2009, The Live Theatre League of Tarrant County presented Dorothy with the Elston Brooks Lifetime Achievement Award.  The long-time dramaturg at Circle Theatre in Fort Worth, she is also a co-founder of Artisan Center Theater in Hurst, Texas.
Both Joan And Dorothy worked in the news field and together turned their abilities to writing scripts for the stage. They did a series for the Prevention Players, a kick-off for community health education seminars, and were at times the opening act for other educational and social programs. They also wrote for fun producing both comedies and dramas that have been produced on stages across the United States.
